HAND OF DEATH
Departed this life on Thursday, Mar. 9th, Levi Nossaman, aged 49 years. The deceased worked in the mine on Monday and Tuesday. At night he complained of a pain in his back and on Wednesday went to Oskaloosa and returned home at noon While there he purchased some tablets to ease his pain and on coming home lay down. Late in the evening he was found in a stupor. Dr. L.C. Howe, of Leighton, was summoned and arrived about 7 p.m. and remained all night, the deceased being unconscious all the time. The doctor said about 5 a.m. he rallied some, but his heart refused to respond. He grew worse until the about hour and passed away. He leaves a wife and three sons and two daughters to mourn his untimely demise, also an aged mother 82 years of age, who attended the funeral, one brother, John, and two sisters. The deceased was a hardworking, honest and industrious man, a devoted man to his family, looking after their every day wants at all times. The members of the U.M.W. of A. had charge of the funeral. The funeral service was held at the Presbyterian church on Saturday at 1 p.m. by Rev. Lloyd Williams, well known Welsh minister of Beacon, who preached a sermon full of thought, and well worthy of consideration by the living. The writer was pleased to meet Mr. Williams whom he had not met for several years. The funeral was largely attended. The remains were laid to rest in the Olivet cemetery. The deceased was an old resident of this and Marion county, having spent his younger days in Pella.
