Mrs. C. DeGeest Died January 28
Mrs. Mary L. Nossaman DeGeest was born in Marion County, Iowa, January 6, 1856, and died January 28, 1936 at the age of 80 years and 22 days.
In her early girlhood she joined the Baptist Church. Her father, John Nossaman was a veteran of the Civil war. In 1874 she was married to Cornelius DeGeest. To this union were born thirteen children, four of whom died in infancy. In 1908 her husband preceded her in death.
She lived in Marion County until 1920 when she went with her sons to Ree Heights, So. Dak. to make her home.
At the time of her death she made her home with her son, John and Dosie E. Wilson south of Miller, So. Dak. She leaves to mourn her death five sons and four daughters Edward DeGeest and Cornelius DeGeest of Ree Heights, So. Dak., Arie DeGeest, John DeGeest, and Dosie Wilson of Miller, So. Dak. Levi DeGeest of Motley, Minn., Mrs. Mary L. Milledge and Mrs. May Wilson of Harvey; Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson of Rapid City, So. Dak. Also 43 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. One brother, John C. Nossaman, 78 years old, living in Mahaska County, Iowa.
One brother and one sister preceded her in death, Edith May Sytsma and Levi Nossaman.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the M. E. church, Rev. S. F. Trestle of Attica officiating assisted by Rev. J. W. Healy Burial is Portergrove cemetery.
