John Carlos Nossaman, son of John and Mervania Nossaman, was born Dec 25, 1858, about 5 miles southeast of Pella, died Feb. 22, 1939. His father enlisted in the Civil War and was drowned while in service leaving Mrs. Nossaman and four small children.
At an early age he and his younger brother took charge of the farm and after the others had married and had homes of their own John made a home for his mother. He was united in marriage to Mary Gelderbloom in 1908. Mrs. Nossaman died on June 13, 1938. He was preceded in death by his brother Levi and two sisters, Mrs. C DeGeest and Mrs. Dan Sytsma.
He leaves two daughters, Gertrude and Isabel, who reside in East Lansing, Mich., and a son Ted with whom he had made his home since the death of his wife, besides a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Funeral Home of the Pella Burial Association on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 25, conducted by Rev. Paul Christensen of the Pella Baptist church. Interment was in Portergrove cemetery.
