PRAIRIE CITY – Arie H. Roozeboom, 70, a resident of Prairie City since 1963 and former member of the Pella Christian High School and the Prairie City Christian Grade School boards of education, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Pella Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Christian Reformed Church in Prairie City.

The rev. Thomas Wetselaar, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Memorials to the Prairie City Christian grade School or the Pella Christian high School will be accepted.

Friends may call after noon Thursday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City and family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Evelena; three sons, Ronald of Runnells, Duane of Pleasant Hill and Steven of Pella; three daughters, Barbara (Mrs. Gary) Renaud of Pella, Marcia (Mrs. Dennis) Vande Lune of Prairie City and Kathleen (Mrs. Richard) Roose of Pella; and 15 grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister, Evadena (Mrs. Ray) De Bruin of Oskaloosa; and three brothers, Gilbert of Pella, Henry of Knoxville and Gerrit of Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Mr. Roozeboom, a member of the Christian reformed Church in Prairie City, was employed at the Maytag Co. in Newton until retiring in 1985.

He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II.

The son of Gysbert and Johanna Hol Roozeboom, he was born April 19, 1920 in Tracy.

He was married to Evelena Van Gorp Feb. 6, 1948 in Pella. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Wed 9 Jan 1991.
