PELLA – Bertha Heyveld Bandstra, 76, of Pella, a former resident of Sully, died Saturday afternoon, March 23, at the Pella Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Pella.

The Rev. Gordon J. Mouw, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Today at the Van Dyke-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.

Memorials to the obstetrics department of Pella Community Hospital will be accepted.

Survivors are four daughters, Patricia A. (Mrs. Rolland) Zylstra of Sully, Velma (Mrs. Stanley) Bogaard of Pella, A. Joyce (Mrs. Lester) Klyn of Pella and Karen K. (Mrs. Stanley) Witzenburg of Jackson, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are her step-mother, Annie Heyveld of Pella; two brothers, Gary W. Heyveld of Leighton and Harold J. Heyveld of Monroe; and a sister Betty Lou Ver Meer of Pella.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother, Everett, and a sister, Verna M. Vander Linden.

Mrs. Bandstra, a former member of the Sully Christian Reformed Church and the Third Reformed Church of Pella, was a member of the Second Reformed Church.

The daughter of Walter and Alieda Rouw Heyveld, she was born March 16, 1915 in Pella and attended Pleasantview rural school near Pella.

She was married to Paul P. Bandstra Feb. 17, 1937 in Pella.

After their marriage they farmed in the Sully and Pella communities until 1961 when they moved to Pella.

Mrs. Bandstra was a nurse’s aide in the obstetrics department of the Pella Community Hospital for 20 years.

She moved to Hilltop South in Pella in 1988 and had been a resident of the Pella Community Hospital since November, 1990. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 25 Mar 1991.
