Minnie Ver Steegt

PELLA – Funeral services for Minnie Van Wyk Ver Steegt, 81, of Pella, a native and former resident of Sully, were held today, March 9, at the Pella Third Reformed Church.

The Rev. Henry Kolenbrander, pastor of the church, conducted services.

Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Memorials to the Third Reformed Church may be left at the Pella garden Chapel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ver Steegt, a longtime resident of Pella, died Friday at the Pella Community Hospital.

Survivors are three brothers, Bert Van Wyk of Pella, Marion Van Wyk of Otley and David Van Wyk of Sully; and four sisters, Carrie (Mrs. John) Braaksma of Newton; Jennette (Mrs. Max) Antle of Sully, Mary Grace (Mrs. Henry) Terlouw of Grinnell and Faye (Mrs. Gerrit) Stouwie of Pella.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ben, Feb. 21, 1960, a son, Armour Lee, Feb. 1, 1974, three brothers, William Van Wyk, Cornie Van Wyk and Henry Van Wyk; and three sisters, Mattie (Mrs. Gerrit) De Hoedt, Gertrude (Mrs. James) Ver Steegt and Alenis (Mrs. Rex) Brush.

Mrs. Ver Steegt was a member of the Pella Third Reformed Church.

The daughter of Gysbert and Gertrude Van Arkel Van Wyk, she was born June 18, 1910 in Sully.

She was married to Ben Ver Steegt in Sully. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 9 Mar 1992.
