Services for Katharine Edith Sherwood, 100, who died July 8, 1982 were held July 10 at Williams Funeral Home.

Interment was in Indiana Chapel Cemetery. Rev. John H. Ackerman officiated at the services. Music was provided by Shirley Bos, organist and Dawn McKay, vocalist.

Pallbearers were Ben Shinn, Jr., Dick Shinn, Joe Shinn, Jr., Marty J. Shinn, Mike Shinn, Dean Shinn, and Roger Shinn.

Mrs. Sherwood was born July 8, 1882 near Odell, Ne., the daughter of Benoni H. and Elizabeth Orpha (Dunbar) Shinn. She moved to Iowa with her family and settled in Adams Co. She attended Corning Public Schools and graduated in 1902. She received her normal training certificate and taught schools in Marion Co.

She was married to Carr Purvis Sherwood on June 13, 1909. She was a member of the Attica United Methodist Church, where she was active with the youth of the church, and president of the Women's Society of Christian Service.

She lived on a farm southwest of Attica until her husbands death in 1949, when she moved in with her son and daughter-in-law. She recently became a resident of Knoxville Rest Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1949, one son in infancy and her son, Orval. She is survived by her step daughter, Lois Robuck of Attica and her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Sherwood.
