MRS. H. J. BENSINK
August 8, 1877 - December 21, 1961

Maggie De Reus, daughter of Nelis and Elizabeth Boshuizen De Reus, was born near Pella on August 8, 1877. On March 27, 1898, she was united in marriage with Henry J. Bensink at Pella. To this union were born the following children: Gertrude, now Mrs. Arie Engbers of Pella, Nelis Bensink of Mon­roe, Henrietta, Mrs. Case Valster of rural Leighton and Elizabeth, Mrs. John Van Andel who died Dec. 24, 1948.

She spent her entire lifetime in this vicinity, moving to the city of Pella in 1924, residing at 504 Lincoln Street.

Mr. Bensink died February 23, 1947, at Pella and late in the evening of December 22 Mrs. Bensink, 84, passed away at the Pella Rest Home, where she had been cared for during the past year.

Profession of her faith was made in the Bethel Reformed Church and when they took up their residence in Pella her church membership was trans­ferred to the Third Reformed Church. As long as her health permitted, she was always faith­ful in her attendance and active in her duties as a member.

Surviving besides her three children are 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and the following brother and sisters: Nellie, Mrs. Bert Olivier of Edgerton, Minn.; Marie, Mrs. Engel Van Steenis of Pella; Barbara, Mrs. J. A. Van Dyke of Richland Hills, Texas; Fannie, Mrs. Herman Rietveld of Pella; Elizabeth, Mrs. John Stek of Pella; and Arie N. De Reus of Pella.

Preceding her in death besides her husband and daughter, Mrs. John Van Andel, are two sisters and a brother: Theresa Julia, Mrs. Gradus Bensink; Winnie, Mrs. John Van Dyke, Peter De Reus and one grandchild.

Rev. Wilbur Ringnalda conducted services for Mrs. Ben­sink on Tuesday, December 26, in the Third Reformed Church. Family prayer services in the basement of the church, pre­ceded the 10:30 service.

Casket bearers were grand­sons: Gerald Van Andel, Henry A. Bensink, Jerry J. Valster and John H., Marvin N. and Arie Engbers, Jr. Burial was made in the Oakwood Cemetery, Pella.
