NELIS DE REUS DIED SATURDAY
Life Long Resident of This Vicinity Dies After Brief Illness Here

Pella and vicinity lost one of its oldest residents Saturday afternoon in the passing of Nelis De Reus at his home in this city at the age of 83 years, Mr. De Reus had been in declining health for a long time, but his death was brought on by a fall of several days ago when he sustained a broken hip.

Born in the Netherlands, Mr. De Reus came with his parents to America when a boy of four years and settled on a farm near Pella, residing there until 17 years ago when he moved to this city, where he has since made his home.

Mr. De Reus was thrice married, first to Miss Jane Tol, second to Miss Elizabeth Boshuizen and third to Miss Frances Van Hoeven, the latter dying two years ago.

The following children by the second marriage survive Mr. De Reus: Mrs. Henry J. (Maggie) Bensink and Mrs. Gradus (Theresa Julia) Bensink of Pella and Mrs. Bert (Nellie) Olivier of Edgerton, Minnesota, while those by his last marriage are Mrs. Engel (Marie) Van Steenis of Harvey, Mrs, Jacob A. (Barbara) Van Dyke of Kellogg, Arie N. De Reus, Mrs. John (Wilhelmina) Van Dyke,. Mrs. Herman (Frances) Rietveld and Mrs. Casper (Elizabeth) Lautenbach, all of Pella, He is also survived by 17 grandchildren,

Funeral services were held at the First Reformed church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Albert Vander Ploeg and interment was in Oakwood cemetery.
