It was most unexpected news received on Monday morning regarding the death of our fellow citizen G. S. Baron in neighboring Leighton. Only a few months ago, he came from Michigan with his family to Leighton where he successfully started a business concern. Approximately, one week before his death he became sick which soon manifested into fevers that were so violent that his body, which was not strong, was soon in demise. The deceased, who was over the age of 28 years, leaves behind a young widow, who is the eldest daughter of our fellow citizen C. Rhynsburger, and a young child who is about 9 months old. The burial was yesterday at the new church yard here. The funeral service was held at the Second Reformed Church led by Rev. W. Moerdijk on which occasion a large crowd was in attendance. His old father, retired Pastor S. Baron, from Forest Grove, Michigan, as well as his son living there, Dr. Baron, had come to attend the funeral. Pella's Weekblad, dated Oct 1, 1886, p. 5, col 1.
