Services for Mary J. Brue, 78, of Pella, who died Oct. 13, 1994 at Pella Community Hospital, were held October 17 at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Dave Lovett of the Pella Church of the Nazarene officiating.

Interment was in Graceland Cemetery.

Mrs. Brue was born Nov. 3, 1915 in Grinnell, the daughter of Frank M. and Verna Lutz McCumber. She attended Newton Schools.

On April 20, 1935 at Bloomfield, she married Corneal Brue. She was owner/operator of Hesson's Ice Cream Store at the Newton Shopping Center until retiring in 1981.

She attended Pella Church of the Nazarene and was a former member of Ikettes and the Newton Shopping Center Tenants Association. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991; her parents; one son, Edward in 1972; two grandsons, James in 1987 and Christopher in infancy; two brothers, Norman and Frank; and one sister, Opal Meador. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs Elmer (Geraldine) Van Dusseldorp of Pella; five grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; two brothers, Marion and Fred of Newton; and one sister, Ruby Dow of Newton.

A memorial has been established to the building fund of the Pella Church of the Nazarene.
