Gertrude L. Dykstra

Services for Gertrude L. Dykstra, 89, of Pella, who died Sept. 8, 1995 at Pella Community Hospital, were held September 11 at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home.

Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery.

The Rev. Kevin Korver officiated at the services. Music was provided by Cora De Cook, organist, and Judy Steenhoek, soloist.

Pallbearers were Melvin and Michael Dykstra, Norman Huyser, Arvan Klein, Robert Van Dyke and Gilbert Van Wyk.

Miss Dykstra was born on Nov. 24, 1905 near Otley, the daughter of Levi and Elizabeth Kuiper Dykstra. She attended Richland Grade School east of Otley.

She moved with her parents into Pella in 1932 and cared for her parents while performing domestic duties for the Ray De Haan and Sam Sedrel families. In 1988 she moved to Fair Haven.

She was a member of Third Reformed Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister in infancy; and four brothers, her twin, Abraham (Abram), and Gerrit, Ralph, and one in infancy.

She is survived by one brother and his wife, Ed and Diverta of Oskaloosa, and 12 nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established to the Faith Promise Building Fund of the Third Reformed Church.
