Christina Boender

Services for Christina (Tiennie) Boender, 97, of Pella, who died March 4, 1995 at Pella Community Hospital, were held March 8 at the First Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa. Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Interment was in Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa.

The Revs. Philip Boender, Siebert Kramer, and Kenneth Dykstra officiated at the services. Music was provided by Gloria De Bruin, organist, and Dr. Michael Boender, soloist.

Pallbearers were Dick and Donald Bruxvoort, Alan, David, Stan, Michael, and Douglas Boender, Dale Sterk, and Daryl Veldhuizen.

Mrs. Boender was born June 8. 1897 in South Holland, Ill., the daughter of Johannas A. and Hillegien Triezenberg De Vries. She attended grade school Illinois.

On Feb. 6, 1917, she married William Boender in Cook County, Ill. In 1920, they moved to Iowa and farmed in the Pella area and east of Oskaloosa. In 1946 they moved into Oskaloosa and in 1970 into Pella.

She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Oskaloosa.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1971; her parents; two daughters, Helen Bruxvoort and Wilma Veldhuizen; a daughter-in-law, Jean Boender; a son-in-law, Tunis Sterk; four grandchildren, Robert Bruxvoort, Jerry Boender, Lyle Sterk, and Kenneth Stouwie; one great-grandson, Mark Moss; one brother, Ed; and four sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Jennie) Van Kley, Mrs. Gerrit (Minnie) Terpstra, Mrs. Sam (Susie) Fieldhouse, and Mrs. John (Alice) Klooster.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Jacob (Nellie) Stouwie of Leighton, Mrs. Herman (Cornelia) Bruxvoort of Newton, and Mrs. Cornelius (Martha Sterk) Eenigenburg of Lansing, Ill.; five sons and their wives, John and Edna of Pella, Sam and Wilma, Cornie and Marilyn, and Harry and Elizabeth, all of Oskaloosa, and Ed and Marilyn of Mason City; two other sons-in-law, Guy Bruxvoort of Pella and Harold Veldhuizen of Oskaloosa; 36 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 93 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established to the Back to God Hour radio broadcast ministry or to a charity of your choice.
