Norman D. Person was born January 3, 1939 in Wahoo, Nebraska. He was the son of Chersty Elenore Dorothy Anderson and Wallace M. Person. Norman was a 1957 graduate of Wahoo High School. He also received an agricultural degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Nebraska.

On November 21, 1970 Norman was united in marriage to Betty JoAnn McVay at the Knoxville First United Methodist Church. Norman lived in Des Moines from 1970 to 1972. He lived in Knoxville the remainder of his life. Norm was employed at Vermeer Manufacturing in Pella; retiring July 2004.

Norman enjoyed working with his hands repairing, restoring and building things. He liked “inventing” and held several patents. Norman rode his bike on the Red Rock trails with his family.

Mr. Person passed away on February 9, 2009 in Knoxville at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 6 days.

Preceding him in death were his father, Wallace Person and one brother, Warren Person.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Betty of Knoxville; one daughter, Karen Brustkern and her husband, Brian of Johnston; one grandson, Logan Brustkern of Johnston; his mother, Chersty Person of Wahoo, Nebraska; and one brother, Russell Person and his wife, Sara of Fremont, NE; and one sister, Dorothy (Phil) Feese of Kearney, Nebraska.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Williams Funeral Home with Rev. Art Hill officiating. Interment was in Bellefountaine Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Larry Crozier, Roger Feese, John Flowers, Robert Graves, Richard Harden and Tom Nichols. Musical selections were “How Great Though Art”, “The Old Rugged Cross”, and “Beyond the Sunset.” Amber Adkins was the vocalist. Christine Meyers was the organist.
