Shirley Ann Barber was born on October 30, 1942 in Knoxville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Virginia Ingle Davis and Walter Winfield Sharp. Shirley attended rural schools at Lincoln School, Attica School and Knoxville High School. She played the baritone in the band.

In December 1969 Shirley Ann Sharp was united in marriage to Norman Barber. To this union two sons were born.

Shirley worked a short time at Griffin’s Nursing Center after receiving her CAN training from Des Moines Area Community College. She also worked at Christian Opportunity Center in Pella. For the majority of time, Shirley was a homemaker and excellent cook. Her specialty was apple cake. Shirley also enjoyed spending time embroidering, crocheting rugs, doing word search puzzles and reading her Bible. Shirley loved cats and almost always had one.

Shirley Ann Barber passed away at her home in Knoxville at the age of 66 years, 3 months and 12 days.

Preceding her in death were her father and 1 brother, Leonard.

Those left to mourn her passing are two sons, Scott Barber and his wife,Melissa of Tipton and Walter Barber of Boise, Idaho; her mother, Virginia Sharp of Knoxville; one brother, Leland Sharp of CA; and four sisters, Eloise Bricker and her husband, Chet of Green Valley, AZ, Delores Breuklander of Knoxville, Mary Pinegar and her husband, Robert of Marysville and Robin Hicks and her husband, Skip of Washington.
