Joseph Vance Stubbs, 54, of Cainsville, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Heartland Regional Hospital in St. Joseph, Mo.

Joe was born in Knoxville and graduated from Pleasantville High School. Joe attended Iowa State University for two years and in 1973 married Charis Carpenter. To this union three children were born Brock, Jordan and Carson (Cass).

In 1998, Joe and Charis were blessed with an additional four children David, Rachel, George Micaiah and Dinah. In 2002, were blessed again with three more precious children Samuel, Joseph and Evangeline.

He worked as assistant manager at Farm and Town elevator for many years. In 1993, he started his own business, Stubbs Propane. After nine years he sold the business and moved his family to a farm near Cainsville, Mo. He was employed at Bridewell Detention Facility in Bethany, Mo., where he was known to be a strong, fair and soft-spoken officer who shared his faith with the inmates verbally and by passing out Bibles.

Joe served on the Pleasantville City Council for several years. He was also an active member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a people person and enjoyed interacting with those around him in his old and new communities and in his workplace.

Joe enjoyed hunting, mowing on his farm, feeding his deer and being with his family. He always had a home improvement project going on. He dearly loved his church family at Cainsville Assembly of God.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Stubbs and father-in-law George Carpenter.

Survivors include his wife Charis, sons: Brock (Kara) of Olathe, Kan., Carson (Carissa) of Cedar Falls, David, Samuel, George Micaiah, and Joseph at home. Daughters: Jordan (Jae) Stoker of Port Neches, Texas, Rachel, Dinah and Evangeline at home. Also five grandchildren: Rhyan, Slade, Isabella, Romi and Tait, his mother Mariann Stubbs, sisters: Deb (Dan) Krichau, Val (Kevin) Furnal, his brother Brian (Rhonda) Stubbs, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
