Ruth Zora Slocum, born March 11, 1912, passed away Oct. 5, 2007, at the age of 95.

Ruth grew up on the Red Rock River bank and moved to Knoxville, Iowa where she lived for 55 years. She was united in marriage with Clarence William Slocum on March 11, 1930. They were blessed with a daughter, Gloria Gaye, who was born on August 25, 1940.

Ruth accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour in 1955 at the age of 43 years. Ruth was a homemaker and periodically worked as a Nurse until the 1960's. She lived her life caring for others and giving to those in need.

Her husband for 57 years, Clarence Slocum, died in September of 1989. Ruth met and married Paul Brent in 1991 and he passed away seven months later.

Survivors include her only child and son-in-law, Gaye and Marion Goff of Knoxville; 9 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jean De Jong of Knoxville.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents: Isaac and Mary Darst Woods, and 11 siblings.

Van Dyk Duven Funeral Home in Pella was in charge of the arrangements.

Services were held Thursday, Oct. 11, at Eureka Cemetery in Harvey with Dr. William McSpadden officiating.
