Mason, Frances (Galvin) 1913-2007

Frances Galvin Mason was born on Dec. 24, 1913, in Pleasantville, the daughter of Gladys (Lambe) Galvin and David Galvin.

She was raised in Pleasantville and following graduation from Pleasantville High School, she attended Simpson College.

On Sept. 1, 1934, she was united in marriage to Francis Scott Mason in Monmouth, Ill. Together they owned and operated the Mason Funeral Home and the Mason Furniture Store. She was particularly proud to work with her husband, and with grace and compassion, to serve the Pleasantville community for 50 years.

Frances was also an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Frances passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at the Bethany Manor Nursing Home at the age of 93.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis in 1990, her son, Scott and a grandson, Miles Mason.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter Sue Ann (Denis) Schaefer of Ames; her son, David (Linda) of Wadsworth, Ohio; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held at Mason Funeral Home in Pleasantville on Nov. 10, 2007, with Rev. Jeff Flagg officiating. Internment was in the Pleasantville Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to St Paul's United Methodist Church or to the Shadle Memorial Library.
