*** IN LOVING MEMORY OF ***
Pauline Winifred (Parrish) Stevens was born on Sept. 3, 1917, in Marion County near Columbia. She was one of seven children born to Edna Mae (Myers) and William Cyrus Parrish. On July 23, 1935, Pauline was united in marriage to Floyd Charles Stevens. To this union four children were born.
Pauline was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville. She was always involved in church circles as well as other activities of the church. Pauline devoted many hours to the Knoxville Area Community Hospital Auxiliary. Pauline loved to garden and then can her produce. The children fondly remember picking berries with their Mom and Aunt Lois. Pauline treasured her family. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pauline was always ready to organize a Cousins' Picnic or a block party. As the eldest child, Pauline became a care taker of her younger siblings. In later years she frequently helped others by driving them to doctor's appointments and on errands. Pauline was often older than those she helped. Her family remembers Pauline as never having a negative thought. She could put a positive spin on anything that came her way.
Pauline Winifred Stevens passed away on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at West Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville at the age of 90.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; one sister, Lois Beebout and three brothers, Donald, Glen and Wayne Parrish.
Those left to mourn her passing are her four children: Shirley Stookey and her husband, David of Apple Valley, Minn., Doris Rowley of McLean, Va., Judy Robuck and her husband, Ward of Woodbury, Minn., and Charles Stevens and his wife, Connie of Parachute, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and another to be born in July; one sister, Colleen Seaman of Albia; and one brother, Dale Parrish of Des Moines.
