Line, Mildred (Vanderzyl) 1918-2007

Mildred was born May 8, 1918, in Pella, the daughter of Paul and Elsie Schakel Vanderzyl. She graduated from Pella High School in 1936 and attended Central College in Pella for one year.

She married Charles Clifford Line on June 6, 1943, in San Angelo, Texas. In addition to being a mother and a homemaker, Mildred helped her husband farm in Marion County from 1954-1976, when they moved to Knoxville. She continued to take care of her parents during most of this time.

She was a member of the Second Reformed Church in Pella and has been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville since 1945. She especially enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening.

Mildred passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, in Griffin Nursing Center in Knoxville, where she had resided for two years, at the age of 89.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers; Homer, Logan and Loren. She is survived by her husband, Clifford, of Knoxville; one son, Tom (Teri) of Mound, Minn.; one grandson; two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 18, at Evans-McCleery Funeral Home in Knoxville with Reverend Arthur Hill officiating. Internment was in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
