Krpan, George Florian 1921-2007

George Florian Krpan passed away on April 23, 2007, in Apache Junction, Ariz. He was the youngest son of Joseph and Lena Shipko Krpan, born on Feb. 25, 1921, in Melcher, Iowa. George lived most of his life in the Melcher area.

He met and married Doris (Spires) on May 4, 1940, and to this union a son Larry and daughter Karen was born.

George served in World War II for three years and three months in the Navy and was stationed in the South Pacific. After being discharged, he returned to Melcher and was employed at the VA in Knoxville, where he retired in 1981. Upon retirement he and his wife enjoyed traveling in their R.V. and wintering in Texas and Arizona. George was a member of the American Legion for 63 years.

He was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers, William and Joseph and a sister, Rosie Krpan.

George is survived by his wife of almost 67 years; son, Larry (Elsie) Krpan of Knoxville; daughter, Karen Luscri of St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Anne Braida of Knoxville.

George will be missed by neighbors, friends and family in Iowa and Apache Junction, Ariz. At Georges's request he wished to be cremated and the cremains scattered in the desert at the foot of Superstition Mountain.
