Kingma, Nina Rebecca (Bailey) 1907-2007

Nina Rebecca Kingma was born on Sept. 17, 1907, in Marion County to Orange and Ada (Sletts) Bailey.

Nina was raised near Coal Port and lived in that area many years. She attended and was very actively involved in the Coal Port Church. On Sept. 13, 1926, she eloped to Mapleton and married Albertus Kingma. The couple would eventually make their home in Knoxville where Albertus owned and operated a garage.

Nina was active in the First Christian Church in Knoxville and the Fire Department Auxiliary. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother.

Nina passed away on March 23, 2007, at the West Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center at the age of 99.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albertus; two daughters, Ada Elizabeth Brees and Alberta May Briggs; a grandson, Michael Briggs and three brothers, Billy, Charley and Chet.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Sandi Beaver (John) of Knoxville; two grandsons, Dan Briggs of Phoenix, Az. and Doug Brees of Knoxville; six great-grandchildren; nine great great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

Funeral Services were on March 28 at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Cox officiating.

Interment was in Coal Port Cemetery in Marion County.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
