Chima Caldonia Simpson Tate Isenberg was born on Jan. 16, 1924, one of six children of Leonard Simpson and Ola Cox Simpson.

Her early childhood was a happy one, being raised on the family farm. She was raised by Godly parents and taught manners, honesty, morals and obedience. Helping out with chores at home was expected of Chima as she was the oldest of the children, her older sister having died in childhood. Farm life was busy for her parents, so Chima learned to cook and take care of the housekeeping at an early age. Being the eldest child, she was also an invaluable help to her parents in caring for the other children.

She married Verley Tate, who was killed during WWII. They had one son, Verley Tate, Jr.

She later married Hubert Isenberg and moved to Pleasantville. She and Hubert had one daughter, Connie. Chima was very involved in the Pleasantville Christian Church, the P.T.A. and other local organizations. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, flowers and bird watching.

Chima passed away on April 24, 2007, at the Pleasant Care Living Center at the age of 83.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Lochiel, two husbands, Verley Tate and Hubert Isenberg, her daughter, Connie Dabb and a brother, Eldridge "Pete" Simpson.

Survivors include her son, Verley Jr. of Peachtree City, Ga.; three sisters, Louise Miller, Jean Williams and Doug Lourine Simpson all of Johnson City, Tenn. and one grandson of Oregon.

A graveside service was held at the Pleasantville Cemetery on April 30 with Pastor John Claussen officiating.

Interment was in the Pleasantville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Pleasantville Christian Church.
