Lydia Catherine Edwards was born on March 30, 1923, in Warren County near Palmyra to Ralph and Vena (Patterson) Burns.

She moved to Pleasantville early in her childhood where she attended school. Catherine married Lyle Francis Edwards in March of 1941. The couple had always lived on a farm near Pleasantville.

Catherine was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She was a past Worthy Matron and also a past Grand Representative.

She passed away on May 3, 2007, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center at the age of 84.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle in 1986 and her sister Margaret Jean Richards-Shoop.

Survivors include five daughters, Linda Nulle of Marion, Carma Shelley of Marion, Kathi Sherwood of Omaha, Neb., Christa Carrasquillo of Mesilla and Cynthia Edwards-Jamieson of Indianola and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On May 6 the Pleasant Chapter #378 Order of Eastern Star performed a service at Mason Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held on May 7 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Flagg officiating.

Interment was in Pleasantville Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
