Charles Franklin Ellis was born on Feb. 3, 1924, in Omaha, Neb. to Claude M. Ellis and Lena C. (Rigg) Ellis.

Chuck was raised in Omaha and graduated from Benson High School in 1942. He then served in the United States Army for two years. Following his discharge, Chuck returned to Omaha and worked for Union Pacific Railroad.

On May 16, 1953, he married Hollice Neal at the Pleasantville Christian Church. The couple has always made Pleasantville their home.

Chuck's next job was with the Rock Island Railroad where he worked until joining Interstate Rail Car Company. He retired in 1984 and then did some private consulting.

Chuck was actively involved in the Pleasantville community for years; he had served on the City Council, Library Board and numerous Christian Church Boards. He also worked with the Boy Scouts for many years.

In his spare time, Chuck enjoyed working around the home, whether it was cooking, gardening or doing carpentry work. Although he and Holly didn't have children of their own; they thought of the Pleasantville Community as their family and have made many wonderful friends through the years.

He was a member of the Pleasantville Christian Church, the Order of Eastern Star and the Masonic Lodge.

Chuck passed away on March 24, 2007, at the Knoxville Hospital at the age of 83.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Hollice "Holly"; his sister-in-law, Ruth Neal of Pleasantville and many other family members and friends.

Order of Eastern Star & Masonic Services were performed by the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #378 and Pleasant Lodge No. 128 A.F. & A.M. in the evening on March 26.

Funeral services were held on March 27 at the Pleasantville Christian Church with Pastor John Claussen officiating.

Interment was in the Pleasantville Cemetery. Military honors were accorded by the Pleasantville American Legion Post No. 108. Memorials may be made to the Pleasantville Christian Church or to Benson High School of Omaha, Neb.
