Drapeaux, Carrie Anna 1960-2007

Carrie Anna Drapeaux was born on May 13, 1960, in Iowa City. She was the daughter of Nora Hendrix and Joseph Lutheran Drapeaux. Carrie grew up and attended school in Davenport. In 1979 Carrie moved to Knoxville. Carrie and Dave Lorton together had a beautiful family of three children.

Carrie was a Native American from the Lakota Sioux Tribe. She used this background to make various types of native beadwork, arts and crafts, which she sold. This was not only her occupation but also her hobby. In her spare time, Carried like to watch sprint car races and play bingo and pool. Being outdoors and enjoying nature was a favorite pastime for her. Family and friends were an important part of Carrie's life.

Carrie Anna Drapeaux passed away on May 12, 2007, at home at the age of 46.

Preceding her in death were her parents and five brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Garcia of Knoxville and Stephanie Drapeaux of Fonda; one son, David J. Lorton of Knoxville; three grandchildren; four brothers and sisters, Roger Drapeaux of Arkansas, Rita Long of Davenport, Nora Harrell of Wisconsin and DeWayne Drapeaux of Davenport and Dave Lorton of Monroe.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, May 20 at the covered bridge in the Marion County Park at 2 p.m.

Memorials in memory of Carrie may be made to her family or sent to 1804 N. Dolores, Apt. 3, Knoxville, Iowa 50138.
