Whitlatch, Delno L. 1921-2007

Delno L Whitlatch age 85, of Des Moines and formerly of Knoxville passed away peacefully on Feb. 13, 2007, at the CLC Center in Des Moines.

Delno was born on May 4, 1921, near Pershing. He was the son of John and Jennie (Davis) Whitlatch. Delno spent his childhood in the Pershing area helping his parents on the family farm.

Delno served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army. Following his tour of duty, Delno farmed for a few years. He then began a career that spanned over 22 years working as a machinist at the John Deere Works in Des Moines.

Delno is remembered as a very generous person who always gave to those who needed assistance. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Larry and Roxalee Whitlatch of Oak Harbor, Wash. and Dwight and Beverly Whitlatch of Ankeny; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two half-sisters and their husbands, Wilma and Kenneth Six of Knoxville and Regina and Herman Wilkes of Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dale and Lewis; one sister, Vera DeRaad and three half sisters, Yvonne Green, Germaine Kline and Juliann Vanderveer.

Funeral Services were held on Feb. 17 at the Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville with Rev. Jerry Morris officiating. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Williams Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
