Bertine Lorraine Pyle was born on July 13, 1923, in Swan to Grover Cleveland and Ruby Odessia (Reeves) Fenton.

She was raised and attended school in Swan. She married James Ralph Pyle on Oct. 27, 1944, in Knoxville. The couple lived in the Palmyra area before returning to Swan. She moved to Pleasantville in 1975.

Bertine enjoyed traveling, making an annual trip to Mount Pleasant and wintering in Arizona. She was also a collector of antiques.

Bertine passed away on Feb. 25, 2007, at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines at the age of 83.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James and her brother, William Fredrick Fenton.

Survivors include her two nieces, Michelle Fenton of Nashville, Tenn. and Sharon Knappe of Dallas, Texas; three nephews, Robert and William Fenton of Pleasantville and Jerry Ray Fenton of Des Moines and many other family members and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Pleasantville EMS.

Funeral services were held at Mason Funeral Home on March 6 with Rev. Jeff Flagg officiating.

Interment was in the Hartford Cemetery.
