Funeral services for Lambert Vander Beek, 93, who died at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House, were held Thursday at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Pella with Rev. William Zeilstra and Rev. Stephen Veldhuis officiating. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Vander Beek was born in Genderen, the Netherlands on March 4, 1911. On November 12, 1942, he married Marie Branderhorst. They had four children. In 1949, they immigrated from the Netherlands to Pella. Lambert and his wife moved to Sully in 1950 and lived there until moving back to Pella in 1960. They became known as the "Father and Mother of Fair Haven."
After his wife passed away in 1990, Vander Beek married Ann Kaldenberg on July 17, 1992, at the Second Christian Reformed Church parsonage in Pella. After ten years living in the Pella Manor, together they became residents at Hilltop North. She preceded him in death on Nov. 13.
Vander Beek is survived by his children: Lambert "Beek" and Karen Vander Beek of Pella; Gerrit and Marcie Vander Beek of Pella; Maggie and Lyman Wakeman of Holland, Mich.; and Ann and Hollis Van Den Heuvel of What Cheer; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Pella or the Christian Opportunity Center.
