Loretta Maxine Bachman was born on Feb. 6, 1924, on her parents' farm near Columbia. She was one of two children born to Leta Alberta Clatt and Ralph Thomas Bachman. Loretta graduated from Knoxville High School in 1942.

Loretta Maxine Bachman married Raymond Chester Jordan on June 16, 1942, in Oakland, Calif. To this union three children were born.After the war, Loretta and Raymond returned to the Knoxville area where they farmed together for many years. Loretta was an active promoter of agriculture. She was a long time member of the Marion County Farm Bureau and participated in many of their projects. For many years Loretta was involved in the "Ag in the Classroom" project and thoroughly enjoyed working with the young children.

Loretta was a long time member of the Knoxville First United Methodist Church. At home Loretta worked diligently in her flower garden. The beds were always lovely throughout the spring, summer and fall. Loretta was 100 percent committed to her family. She sacrificed many of her personal pursuits and devoted many hours to the care of her husband, son and daughter.

Loretta Maxine Jordan passed away on April 9, 2007, at the Madrid Home for the Aging" at the age of 83.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond in 1985; daughter, Dee Dee Werts; son, Ron Jordan and one brother.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Jones of Ankeny; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on April 11 at Williams Funeral Home with Pastor John Claussen officiating. Interment was in the Lincoln Cemetery in rural Marion County. Memorials in memory of Mrs. Jordan may be made to Fairview Church or Madrid Home For the Aging.
