Georgia Marlene Shore was born on July 28, 1909, at home in rural Lucas County. She was one of four daughters born to Anna Nelson and William O. Shore. Georgia attended grade school at Olmitz and graduated from Williamson High School in 1928.
On June 9, 1934, Georgia Marlene Shore married Roy Raymond Hubler. To this union three children were born.
Georgia taught country school until she started her family. She raised the children and helped Roy farm until his death in 1961. At that time Georgia returned to teaching. She received her BS degree from Drake University. Georgia retired from Melcher-Dallas Schools in 1981 after over 27 years of teaching.
Georgia was a true working farm wife. She liked farming and caring for the livestock. Burning brush was a favorite activity for her. Georgia could milk 3 cows while Roy milked one. Georgia was always active and enjoyed working outdoors. She push mowed her yard when she was in her 90's. Georgia was an excellent cook.
The family fondly remembers her fixing the best noodles around. Georgia had a talent for quilting. Not only did she make quilts for her family, but also shared these skills with her church. For many years, the Columbia United Methodist Church had a quilt Georgia helped to make at the fall auction. Traveling in her later years provided much enjoyment. Family was a major focus of her life. They all have many fond memories of Georgia.
