Evelyn (Stearns) Routh passed away on Oct. 13, 2006, at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital in Knoxville. Funeral services were held on Oct. 17 at the Dallas Christian Church in Melcher-Dallas. Burial was in the Dallas Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Dallas Christian Church or Hospice of Central Iowa.

Evelyn was born on Feb. 1, 1921, to John and Cora Stearns in Woodburn. She married Russell Routh in July 1939. Evelyn spent most of her life in Melcher raising her seven children.

Evelyn is survived by four sons, Duayne (Gail) of Rangely, Colo., Forrest (Pat) Routh of St. Peters, Mo, Russell Jr. of Pueblo, Colo. and John Routh of Des Moines; two daughters, Beverly (Bill) LaHue of Knoxville and Barb (Jeff) Short of Des Moines; a daughter-in-law, Judy Routh of Chariton; 22 grandchildren; two sisters, Josephine Ruark of Council Bluffs and Carol Keller of Lucas and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; son, Gary; sister, Carrie Edgerton; and four brothers, Otis, Ernest, Harold and John Stearns.

Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas handled the arrangements.
