Dorothy Ellen Ceaser Reimer passed away peacefully at 88 on Sept. 28, 2006, at the Hospice Center in Madison, Wis. with her family around her.

Dorothy was born on Sept. 17, 1918, in Laurel to Sam and Margaret Owens Jane Ceaser. She grew up and graduated from high school in Gilman. She graduated from Central College in Pella and was employed as a bookkeeper in Marshalltown at Joyce Lumber Company.

She married Charles F. Reimer on Dec. 5, 1942. To this union four daughters were born. Dorothy lived on the family farm south of Knoxville until moving to the Park Lane Village Assisted Living 2001. She moved to Madison, Wis. to Legacy Gardens Assisted Living in 2003 to be near her daughter, Chris and family. Health problems caused a final move to the Hospice Care Facility.

Dorothy and her family truly appreciated the loving care that she received at Park Lane, Legacy and Hospice. There are too many special people to mention but we thank you all for how much you touched her life, our lives and made them better.

Dorothy enjoyed gardening, birds and genealogy, including two trips she made to Ireland to research her family tree. She learned to fly an airplane in 1963 so as to co-pilot her husband on their many trips around the country. She will be remembered for her strong Irish conviction, her kind manner, her sense of humor, her caring expressive smile as well as her unsurpassed dedication to being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Sam; her husband of 55 years, Charlie, a daughter, Kathleen and a son-in-law, Dennis Preston.

She is survived by one brother, Harold Ceaser; a sister-in-law, Rachel (Clifford) Hicks; a daughter, Margaret (Dave) Gregory of Green River, Wyo. a daughter, Charlene Reimer of Knoxville; a daughter, Christine Preston of McFarland, Wis.; six grandchildren as well as six great-grandchildren.

There will be a private graveside service in Knoxville at Graceland Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Madison Hospice or your local hospice center.
