REDDING, BOOKOUT, JONES

Harold L. Redding, 78, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa.

He was born Dec. 14, 1927, at Guthrie Center, the son of Glen and Ruth Bookout Redding. He graduated from the Bussey High School with the class of 1946. He served in the United States Army.

On Dec. 22, 1951, he married Louretta Jones at Knoxville. They moved to Oskaloosa in 1952.

He was a self-employed local truck driver, and retired in 1990. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, and enjoyed hunting and playing cards. He delighted in his grandchildren and attending their ball games.

His family includes his wife, Louretta Redding of Oskaloosa; two daughters: Marcia (Larry) McAlpin of Leon, and Sandra Verhoef of Pella; a son: Danny (Laurie) Redding of Leighton; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lois Downard of Urbandale and Ann (Warren) Snowbarger of Queen City, Mo.; two sisters in law: Rosalie Redding of Knoxville and Millie Redding of St. Louis, Mo.

Also surviving are seven sisters in law: Leona Jones, Lena Bankus, Louise Rankin, Lucretia Spaur, Lily (Richard) Sterling and Inez Jones, all of Knoxville; Luella (Hubert) Parker of Bussey; and brother in law: Leonard (Frances) Jones of Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers: Keith and Roy Redding.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, in the Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa with the Reverend Robert Dean officiating. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery at Knoxville. Memorials may be made to the Central United Methodist Church. The Bates Funeral Chapel of Oskaloosa is in charge of the arrangements.
