Herr, Charlotte Ellen (Chapman) 1936-2006

Charlotte Ellen Chapman Heaberlin Herr was born Aug. 28, 1936, in Park Rapids, Minn., to Leota Wiley Chapman and George W. Chapman. She died unexpectedly at her home on Nov. 12, 2006, at the age of 70.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother George M. "Dick" Chapman.

Charlotte moved to Pleasantville in 1949 and resided there until her death.

Charlotte graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1955 and married Ronald L. Heaberlin later that year. Charlotte and Ronnie had three children, Scott, Penny and Joel. Charlotte retired in 1997 after 32 years at Norwest Bank (now Wells Fargo).

Charlotte was a member of the Pleasantville Christian Church, where she was known for her beautiful singing voice. She was active in the Pleasantville Lions Club and Lioness, and was a Red Hat Rosie. She will be remembered as a hard worker, an excellent cook, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a loyal friend.

Charlotte is survived by her children, Scott Heaberlin of Des Moines, Penny Heaberlin and husband Ken Bayliss of St. Paul, Minn., and Joel Heaberlin and wife Paula of Pleasantville. Charlotte's children and grandchildren are, Scott's children: Angela Graham and husband Eric and their son Dawsyn, and Amy Heaberlin and boyfriend Tony Hansen, their daughters, Hadlee and Ashley; Penny's children, Adam Beier and Betsy and Mary Cait Bayliss and Joel's children, K.C. Mull and her daughter Joie Bjerke, Kerri Hiemstra, Alex and Konner Heaberlin and Devon and Austin Jayne. She is also survived by her former husband and special friend, Ed Herr of Des Moines and sister, Betty Henderson of Mesa, Arizona and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services were held at Mason Funeral Home in Pleasantville on Nov. 16 with Pastor John Claussen officiating.

Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the "Coming to Your Senses" through the Pleasantville Lions Club or to the Webb Shadle Memorial Library.
