Viers, Alberta Mae (Caulkins) 1927-2006

Alberta Mae Viers was born on Feb. 19, 1927, near Dallas to Walter and Netha (Holton) Caulkins.

She attended high school in Knoxville. On Nov. 23, 1943, she married Jack Wallace Viers. She spent her entire life in Swan, except during the years of 1952-1958 when the family lived in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was primarily a homemaker, but she had worked at Dahl's and sold Avon. She faithfully attended the Church of Christ in Pleasantville.

Alberta was very active in the church, she taught Sunday school in Swan, Pleasantville and in Salt Lake City. She loved her family and enjoyed doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, birds and her many crafts.

Alberta went to be with the Lord on Sept. 19, 2006, at her home in Swan at the age of 79.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Sherry Mae Clark; sisters, Dana De Heer and Mildred Flanders and brothers, Dale, Lester and Jr. Caulkins.

Survivors include her husband, Jack; sons, Jack (Rhonda) Viers of Swan and Roger (Lana) Viers of Nathrop, Colo.; daughters, Virginia (Herb) Collins of Swan, Barbara (Don) Mosher of Meriden, Kan., Jacqueline (Steve) Clark of Hartford and Nancy (Larry) Futrelle of Carlisle; sisters, Wilma Van Ryswyk and Opal DeHeer, both of Knoxville; 13 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Sept. 22 at the Church of Christ in Pleasantville with Pastor Don Hill officiating. Interment was in the Swan Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Pleasantville Church of Christ or to the St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, S.D.
