Linda Joyce Denney, 60, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

She was born Jan. 14, 1946, in Oskaloosa the daughter of Gerald and Virginia Lisk Denney. Early in her adult life she worked at the overall factory in Knoxville. In July 1963 she was united in marriage to Ronald Kirtley at Bussey, they later divorced. She was a homemaker while her children were home. Lately she worked as a cook for the Knoxville School District. She enjoyed painting and teaching ceramics, and making crafts.

Her family includes her son, Bradley (Tricia) Kirtley of Knoxville; her daughter: Shannon (Kevin) Greene of Tracy; six grandchildren: Jordan Kirtley, Shane Kirtley, Zach Greene, Nick Greene, Ciara Kirtley, and Victoria Greene; her mother: Virginia Denney; a sister: Paula Veenstra of Madison, Wisconsin; two nephews: Todd and Paul Veenstra; and a special cousin: Nell (Marvin) Davis of Sully.

She was preceded in death by her father.

As was Linda's wish, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at 10 a.m. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Wymore Cemetery east of Oskaloosa. The family will be at the funeral chapel Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until service time to greet friends and family. Memorials may be made to the Linda Denney memorial fund.
