Larry DeGeest 65, of Knoxville, died on Sept. 10, 2006, at the Pella Regional Health Center after a long courageous battle with diabetes.

Services were held on Sept. 14 at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Lovilia with the Rev. Steve Bagby officiating.

He married Sallie Grace Plate on June 28, 1958 in Oskaloosa. Larry and Sallie had two sons and one daughter.

Larry worked for 29 years at Pella Corp. In 1991, he retired from Pella with a medical discharge. He was a VFW social member of Oskaloosa and Eagles member serving as the president two consecutive years. His hobbies and interests included being an avid collector of antiques, Indian relics and he loved playing the guitar and singing.

Survivors include long time companion Dorothy Pottorff of Bussey, a daughter Sherrie (Brian) Davis of Attica, two sons, Tim (Ronda) of Attica, and Jeff of Tracy, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one step great-grandchild, two brothers Paul of Des Moines and Duane (Margaret) of Tracy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Sallie, brother Glen, and a sister in infancy.
