Sinnard, Ruth Faye (Long) 1917-2006

Ruth Faye Armel Sinnard was born on Aug. 31, 1917, in Warren County to J.E. "Roy" and Nellie (VanScoyk) Long.

Ruth was raised in Warren County, graduating from Sandyville High School. In her youth, she worked as a nanny and at the ordinance plant. Later she moved to Des Moines where she was a travel agent at Stark Travel Bureau in the downtown Younkers. She retired from the travel bureau in 1980, after working there for 38 years. In 1981, her husband Loren Armel passed away. Ruth married Donald Sinnard in 1982. He passed away in 2001.

Ruth was an avid reader. She was also active in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Shrine Auxiliary.

Ruth died on March 19, 2006, at the Carlisle Care Center at the age of 88.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Loren Armel and Donald Sinnard; brother, Paul Guy Long and sisters, Eula Porter and Mary Brown.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Dennis) Bowlin of Carlisle; sisters, LaVaughn Heaberlin and Virginia (Paul) Kirkpatrick, all of Pleasantville; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on March 22 with Rev. Jeff Flagg officiating.

Interment was in Elm Grove Cemetery in Des Moines.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Central Iowa.
