Alice Roberta Sholley, 88, of Des Moines went to be with her parents, two brothers and two grandchildren in heaven on May 12, 2006, at Taylor House Hospice.

She was born to Robert A. Vernon and Leatha O. Miller in Melcher on Jan. 15, 1918. She lived most of her life in Knoxville and Des Moines. Alice enjoyed her church, loved doing anything with her family, including ballgames, watching the balloons in Indianola, Sunday dinners and all the many birthday and holiday celebrations. Alice will be missed by her many relatives and friends and all that knew her.

Alice is survived by her six children, Lester (Linda) Isley, Larry (Chris) Isley, Roberta Isley Selsor, Grace Isley, L. Marylee Higdon Fitch, and Robert (Amy) Higdon; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

A memorial gathering was held on May 15 at Hamilton's Funeral Home. A private burial was at the Dallas Cemetery in Melcher-Dallas.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or Taylor House Hospice.
