Donnis Lyle Hugen, age 72, of Hamilton died May 2, 2006, at his residence in Hamilton. He was born Nov. 3, 1933, in Mahaska County to Frank Leonard and Nellie (Trinkle) Hugen. He married Madonna "Donna" Maude Cooper on Oct. 20, 1957, at the United Brethren Church in Albia.

Lyle was a graduate of Bussey High School, class of 1952. He was a coalminer, working as a driller in strip mines. He was affiliated with the Hamilton Untied Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, picking berries and also hunting mushrooms and spending time with his grandchildren.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Donna of Hamilton; four children, David Hugen of Hamilton, Cindy Hugen of Knoxville, Carla and (Bruce) Pettyjohn of Hamilton and Brad and (Elisha) Hugen of Knoxville; three brothers, Frank Hugen, Jr. of Albia, Randy Hugen of Story City and Dennis Hugen of Indianola; two sisters, Esther Courtney of Bussey and Marlene Fitzsimmons of Albia. Lyle is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Charles, Marvin, Richard, Larry and John Hugen and one sister, Verda Pettyjohn.

Funeral services were held on May 5 at the Bussey United Methodist Church in Bussey with Rev. Jill Leveck officiating. Burial was in Hamilton Cemetery in Hamilton.

Memorials may go to Hospice of Monroe County, Hamilton United Methodist Church or to Hamilton Cemetery.
