Old Eddyville Cemetery

CHAPMAN, STRAIN

My Chapman & Strain family are buried at what is now called "Highland Cemetery." It used to be called "Eddyville Cemetery." Can somebody tell me why this cemetery of Eddyville is still listed as Eddyville in the Mahaska County records; but signs at the cemetery say Highland Cemetery. Just thought it should now be listed as "Highland" on this site so people don't get mixed up with this info. Some people think that "Highland Cemetery of New Sharon" is the one I am refering to. It is almost 22 miles from Eddyville. Actually; the town of Eddyville is still in Wapello County Iowa while the cemetery is in Mahaska County Iowa; just across the county border. Also of interest is; is there another cemetery across the road or is this all one cemetery??
