Marie E. Vande Krol, 83, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, Oct. 6, at Pleasant Park Estates in Oskaloosa. Her funeral service was held this morning, Oct. 9, at Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, with grandsons officiating. Burial: Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa, the Rev. Milo Vande Krol officiating. A memorial fund has been established.
Marie E. Vande Krol was born Dec. 17, 1916, near Hayesville in Keokuk County, to Rolla and Pearl Johnson Puder. On Oct. 24, 1939, she married Harold Vande Krol in Ottumwa. He died Feb. 20, 1981. They farmed near Sully until moving to Oskaloosa in December, 1970. She moved into Pleasant Park Estates on Aug. 12, 2000. She attended Parkview Bible Chapel in Eddyville.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Darrell and Judy Vande Krol of Oskaloosa; four daughters and sons-in-law: Deyonna and Patrick Bennett of Davenport, Darlene and Roger Westercamp of Oskaloosa, Delores and Gary Keith of Oskaloosa, and Donalda and Bill Meyer of Cumberland; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Mildred Steel of Windsor, Colo., and Virginia Taylor of Eddyville.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Daniel Keith; a son-in-law, William DeRonde; and two brothers-in-law: James Steel and Delbert Taylor (The Oskaloosa Herald, date unknown)
