Lester H. Andeway, 86, of 1320 N. E St. died Wednesday, May 7, 1986 at the Mahaska County Hospital. He was born Sept. 20, 1899, near Otley, the son of John and Jannegye Van Bruggen Andeway. On Sept. 20, 1923, he married Imogene Allsup at Oskaloosa. He farmed until 1944 when they moved into Oskaloosa. For a number of years he was employed by the Mahaska County Maintenance Department and later worked for the Oskaloosa Street Dept. until retiring. He was a member of the St. Paul Congregational Church of Christ, the Eageles' Lodge in Oskaloosa, and the Knights of Pythias White Oak Lodge No. 78 of Rose Hill. He is survived by his wife, Imogene "Betty" of Oskaloosa; one song, Robert Wayne of Hawthorne; two daughters: Mildred Arlene (Mrs. Arlie) Lockhart of Hawthorne, Calif., and Delores (Mrs. John Mulvilhill) of Clinton; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother: Vern of Oskaloosa; and one sister, Marie Shaw of Oskaloosa. He was preceeded in death by his parents; four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Newman Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William Main officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The family will be at the funeral chapel tonight from 7-8:30 p.m. to greet relatives and friends. Memorials may be designated to the St. Paul Congregational United Church of Christ. (Oskaloosa Herald, date unknown)
