Merle Beaver, 82, of Cedar died at Siesta Park Nursing Home Wednesdsay, Oct. 8, 1986. He was born at Damen, Okla. on Oct. 26, 1903, the son of Ernest and Lenna Briney Beaver. He married Orpha Irene Bond on Feb. 14, 1929 near White Oak Township. She died March 8, 1982 in Iowa City. He was a 50-year member of the Eddyville Masonic Lodge No. 74, the White Shrine, Abba Shrine, the Lion's Club in Fremont, the Order of the Eastern Star No.99, an officer in the Grand Lodge in 1964 and 1965, and a member of the Cedar United Methodist Church. He is survived by one son, Richard; three grandsons: James, Mark and Ryan; and one sister, Mrs. Zelpha Beaver of Eddyville. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Powers Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Pippert officiating. Masonic rites by Grand Lodge will follow the service. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery. Memorials will be made to the Cedar Methodist Church. (Oskaloosa Herald, date unknown)
