Ben Van Ommen, 85, of Oskaloosa died at the Pleasant Park Nursing Home Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1986. He was born May 28, 1901 in Marion County, the son of Gerriet Van Ommen and Maggie Kleine.
He is survived by two brothers: Dick and Tunis of Oskaloosa; seven sisters: Maggie Van Roekel of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Dora Lemers of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Nellie Verbeek of Rose Hill, Mrs. Irene Van Mershbergen of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Lillian Van Arkel of Oskaloosa; Mrs. Henrietta Swank of Newton, Mrs. Pearl Kietzman of Albia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Powers Funeral Home with Rev. Max Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 7-8:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. (Oskaloosa Herald, date unknown)
