Neva M. Barnhart, 79, of 416 Fourth Ave. E., died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1986 at the Siesta Park Nursing Home in Oskaloosa. She was born Nov. 4, 1907 in Rose Hill, the daughter of Charles and Clara Gable Carl.
She married Ira C. "Bill" Barnhart on Aug. 5, 1952 at Harrison, Ark. He died May 22, 1962. She attended William Penn college and taught school for 44 years, 30 years of which were for the Oskaloosa School System. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Retired Teachers Association, the Pythian Lodge, and was a past state president of the Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Society.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Ione Carl of Oskaloosa, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Don.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Newman Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Troxler officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa memorials may be designated to the Mahaska Diamond Shelter (Oskaloosa Herald, date unknown)
