Terry H. Childs was born April 25, 1945 at North English to Donald Robert and Anna L. Wade Childs. He married Elizabeth Ann Maddy on Oct. 7, 1967 at Eddyville. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1964. He attended William Penn College. He owned and operated Childs Construction and was manager of America Truck & Auto. In 1972 he owned and operated Terry's Lounge in Oskaloosa. He was a member of the V. F. W. and has served in the Army Reserve.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and a husband, Michaell and Bob Crouse of Oskaloosa; a son and his friend, Robert Childs and Stacie Jordan of Rose Hill; three grandchildren, Bret Childs, Josua Crouse and Kelsi Crouse; his mother, Ann Childs of Rose Hill; two sisters, Penny Osweiler of Cedar Rapids, and Deanna Hedegaard of Lambert, Mont.; a brother, William Towner of Calmar; his parents-in-law, Norma and Bill Hewitt of Oskaloosa; and one niece and five nephews.
