Barbara Ann Barnes passed away at her home in Oskaloosa Sunday morning, Sept. 19, 2004, at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 4 days. Funeral Services will be held at Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa on Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Robert Dean officiating. Interment will be at Forest Cemetery & Lakeview Gardens in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Garland Van Arkel Langkamp Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Barb's memory is honored by her husband, Raymond of Oskaloosa; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Larry Bucheit of Boone, IA, and her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Toni Barnes of Thornton, CO. She was blessed with five grandchildren: John Bucheit of Wheaton IL; Maia Barnes Turnbull of Marshalltown, IA; Amanda Bucheit of Iowa City, IA; Corine Barnes of Marshalltown, IA; and Travis Barnes of Westminister, CO. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Briona and Kanaan Turnbull, and Marcelite and Lucinda Bucheit. She is survived by a sister, Muriel Jansen of Marshalltown and a sister-in-law: Ruth Barnes of Pella, IA.

Barbara Ann Barnes, daughter of Wallace & Helen Moore Bovee was born on July 15, 1928, in Oskaloosa. She was a 1946 graduate of Marshalltown High School. She married Raymond Frank Barnes on April 20, 1947, in Oskaloosa. Together they operated Barnes Hatchery and Feed; Barb was the bookkeeper, as well as helping with many other aspects of the business. In 1973, she and Ray moved to a farm west of Oskaloosa, there Barb enjoyed her gardening. In 1997 they moved to their home in Oskaloosa. Barbara was a 57-year member of Central United Methodist Church, where she belonged to United Methodist Women and helped with the Ecumenical Cupboard. She was also a member of T.T.T. Chapter CY. Barb also enjoyed reading, church activities, working crossword puzzles and she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter-in-law, Monika Rauba Barnes.
