John L. Pearson, 101, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Pleasant Park Estates in Oskaloosa. His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont, the Rev. Bill Kolbe of Rose Hill Community Church officiating. Burial: Tioga Cemetery near Rose Hill. Visiting hours are open today at the funeral chapel, with family present 6-8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
John Pearson was born June 6, 1900, in Tioga Township of Mahaska County to John and Dora Ellen Moore Pearson. On March 10, 1920, he married Blanche Wymore in Oskaloosa. He farmed in the Rose Hill area for many years and also was a truck driver for Martin Van Zetten for more than 20 years, retiring in 1965. He was a member of the Tioga Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Blanche and his daughter, Rebecca Krusemark, both of Oskaloosa; nine grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons: Donald, Glenn, and Joseph E. "Gene" Pearson; a daughter, Ila Mae Pearson; two brothers: Francis and Earl Pearson; and three sisters: Klista Leathers, Fannie Lisk, and Rosie Wilson.
